DISTRIBUTOR
Your role in the value chain
A distributor is any natural or legal person in the supply chain, other than the manufacturer or importer, that makes packaging available on the market.
If you are a retailer and sell products under your own brand(s), or have packaging manufactured under your name (for ex. service packaging or takeaway packaging), you are also considered as a manufacturer and producer.
If you are a retailer and purchase your products from a supplier established in a country other than your own (another EU country or outside the EU), you may have Producer and/or Importer roles.
Your key obligations
- Obligation to carefully verify that packaging places on the market complies with the eco-design and EPR requirements set out in the PPWR
- No distribution of non-compliant packaging
- Non-compliant packaging must be recalled if already on the market. Authorities must be informed
- Ensure good conditions during storage, handling and transporting of packaging/packaged goods
